This area of town includes not only downtown; but Old Town - the original Albuquerque founded in 1706. Native Americans still sell their wares on the sidewalks of the Plaza as they have for centuries. Many festivals and celebrations occur throughout the year on the Plaza.
Downtown houses three of the city's six museums - The Albuquerque Museum, Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque, and the New Mexico Museum of Natural History.
Along the Rio Grande river, the ABQ BioPark is a group of four attractions that are one of the biggest tourist draws in the state of New Mexico - the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Botanic Garden, Aquarium and Tingley Beach.
